Awesome turn out at the 2019 NZ Cup by NHM4WD members. Whilst none of the team took out the major titles this year, the team placed in a number of categories taking home a bunch or prizes and certificates. Held in Hastings this year, it was fantastic to race against the best in New Zealand, and represent our growing club at the national competition. Hopefully we can get even more members at next years event, to be hosted in Wellington, and really show the rest of the country how we do it!
This year the competition featured a novel qualifying round setup which added a huge amount of excitement and pressure to the early stages, as well as reducing time spent waiting for your own race. Racers for the two main categories, Basic (N2 class) and National (Pro class), could get in line to race against other competitors at any stage during the hour long qualifiers as many times as they wanted to a maximum of 8 races per class. In order to qualify for the final rounds, each racer had to have a least one first place WIN. This new system made for an interesting balance of exciting racing, frantic tuning and in some cases panic as the clock ticked away!!
Thanks heaps to the Howard brothers for a superb event, as well as the Glen and the Hawkes Bay club, and all who were involved in the years competition. Can’t wait for 2020.
